SIGEP is the premier Gelato exhibition that takes place in the month of January in the seaside town of Rimini,Italy. Great fun to visit in summer but freezing in the month of January. Ice cream producers, aficionados and ingredient suppliers send 4 days looking at and tasting the newest developments in the filed of Gelato. Amadora goes to the exhibition every year and in 2017 we were lucky enough to also visit Florence to continue eating after the exhibition. Here are some pictures of some of the unforgettable dishes we ate.

Our favourite Italian dessert of all time. Torta della Nonna which means Grandma's Cake. Its a lemon and vanilla scented pastry cream thats topped with pine nuts. So good.

Some of the incredible gelato we ate during the 4 day SIGEP exhibition.

Some of the best pizzas we ate on the tour. The one the left is caramelised lemon and broccoli with mozarella fior de latte and the one of the right is pumpkin cream and bacon.

Some of our favourite small eats in Italy. Anchovy and butter on toast, lard with crispy polenta.

The incredible Olive Oil Cake from the amazing butcher Dario Cecchini in Panzano, Italy. The cake is served at the end of a meat-heavy meal and contains no dairy products. Absolutely incredible!

Gianduja & Cream with Mascarpone and Honey Gelato served in a nut caramel chocolate cone. Droool!

Fresh cannoli with caramelised orange peel.
